Kinshasa: Health authorities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo have confirmed 933 Ebola cases, including 245 deaths, as the outbreak continues to spread.
According to Qatar News Agency, Health Minister Samuel Roger Kamba announced in Ituri Province, where the first cases of the current outbreak were reported, that the number of confirmed infections had reached 933, with 245 fatalities. Kamba noted that 80 patients had recovered and been discharged from Ebola treatment centers.
The announcement came a day after the World Health Organization reported that 75 health care workers in the Democratic Republic of the Congo had contracted the virus. Seventeen of them have died since the outbreak began, the agency said.
