Cabinet Commends Amir’s Role in Sharm El Sheikh Summit for Peace

Doha: HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani chaired the Cabinet’s regular meeting, held on Wednesday morning at the Amiri Diwan.

According to Qatar News Agency, HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi reported that the Cabinet praised HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s participation in the Sharm El Sheikh Summit for Peace in Egypt. During the summit, His Highness was involved in the signing ceremony of the agreement to end the war in Gaza alongside leaders from Egypt, Turkiye, and the United States. The Cabinet highlighted Qatar’s commitment to ending the conflict in Gaza and supporting the Palestinian people’s rights.

The Cabinet expressed optimism that the summit’s outcomes would advance the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. Additionally, the Cabinet congratulated HH the Amir on Qatar’s qualification for the 2026 World Cup finals, lauding this achievement as a testament to the country’s success in various fields.

The Cabinet extended condolences to the families of Amiri Diwan employees who died in Sharm El Sheikh while on duty and wished a speedy recovery for the injured. It also addressed several agenda items, including approving a draft law on international treaties and agreements, which will be referred to the Shura Council for further consideration.

The Cabinet agreed to join several international agreements, including one under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and signed memorandums of understanding with Albania, Mauritania, Kazakhstan, and Turkiye in various fields. The meeting concluded with the review of reports on industrial area affairs, water resources, cultural diversity, and the GCC Ministers of Labour Committee meeting.
