Awqaf Announces Registration for 30th Sheikh Jassim Noble Qur’an Competition

Doha: The Organizing Committee of the Sheikh Jassim bin Muhammad bin Thani Noble Qur’an Competition at the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs has announced the commencement of registration for the 30th contest. This year’s competition, open to both citizens and residents of all genders, includes the full Qur’an branch and the Categories Branch specifically for male and female citizens.

According to Qatar News Agency, the registration will remain open until October 28, 2025, and interested participants can register via the link: https://islam.qa/jassimReg. The competition’s full memorization category requires applicants to be citizens or residents, with a stipulation that previous winners in a specific narration cannot participate again unless they choose a different narration or have not competed for two consecutive years.

The ministry has scheduled the tests to begin on November 8 at the Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque for males, while female participants will take their tests at the Women’s Activity Building in Al Waab. The full Qur’an branch is divided into three categories for both genders: the Qatari Huffaz Category, the Resident Huffaz Category, and the General Resident Huffaz Category.

In terms of awards, the committee clarified that prizes for males and females in the full Qur’an branch will be distributed separately. The top five winners in each category for both genders will be honored, with the first-place winner receiving a cash prize of QAR 100,000. The prize amounts decline from QAR 85,000 for second place to QAR 50,000 for fifth place.

Additionally, incentive cash prizes will be awarded to contestants who advance past the second stage but do not qualify for the third stage in the full Qur’an branch. There will also be special prizes for participants with exceptional voices. The Categories Branch, aimed at Qatari citizens, challenges participants to memorize specific portions of the Qur’an, with segments ranging from 5 to 25 parts.

The committee also mentioned that competitors in the Categories Branch can compete in their previous category or advance to a higher one. Participants who have been absent for three years or more are permitted to enter one category below their highest previous level. The competition aims to attract a large number of participants by offering substantial cash prizes and encouraging excellence in Qur’an memorization.
