Amman: The Arab-Islamic ministerial committee on Gaza emphasized that the Israeli occupation’s obstruction of the visit of the Arab-Islamic Committee delegation on Gaza to Ramallah reflects the arrogance of Israel, the occupying power, and its violation of international law and its legal obligations.
According to Qatar News Agency, this statement was made during a joint press conference held by the committee members following a meeting in Amman, Jordan. The meeting was chaired by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah. Other committee members included Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Al Safadi, Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif Alzayani, and Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas also participated via video conference.
The committee members highlighted the need to continue efforts to halt the Israeli aggression on Gaza and address the humanitarian crisis it is causing. They emphasized the importance of launching a genuine effort to fulfill the Palestinian people’s right to an independent, sovereign state on its national soil, based on the two-state solution as the only way to achieve a just and comprehensive peace.
Additionally, the committee stressed the need to intensify efforts to urge more countries to recognize the Palestinian state. They also aimed for the international conference to be held in New York, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France, to produce practical results in this regard.
