Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani issued Amiri Decision No. 32 of 2026 to reconstitute the Board of Trustees of the Qatar National Library. The decision outlines key appointments and structural changes within the board, aimed at enhancing the library's governance and strategic direction.
According to Qatar News Agency, the decision appoints HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al-Thani as Chair and HE Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad bin Jassim Al-Thani as Vice Chairman of the board. The announcement also includes the appointment of several distinguished members, emphasizing a blend of expertise and leadership. The board's members include HE Dr. Sheikha bint Abdullah Al Misnad, the Secretary-General of the National Archives of Qatar, Dr. Hassan Rashid Al Derham, the Vice President of Qatar University for Research and Innovation, and a representative from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. This representative is to be chosen by HE the Minister of Communications and Information Technology in coordination with HE the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees.
The decision is effective immediately and will be published in the official gazette, underscoring the commitment to transparency and public awareness regarding the new structure of the Qatar National Library's governance.
