Al-Sudani directs to re-form the Supreme Committee supervising the Gulf 25 Championship

Baghdad The Prime Minister, Muhammad Al-Sudani, directed to re-form the Supreme Committee supervising the Arab Gulf Cup (25).

A statement by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers stated that the committee will be headed by the Minister of Youth and Sports, and the membership of each of the following:

1. The Minister of Culture.

2. The Governor of Basra.

3. Deputy Commander of Joint Operations.

4. Chairman of the Media and Communications Authority.

5. Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

6. Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil.

7. Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health.

8. Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport.

9. Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity.

10. Adviser to the Prime Minister for Youth and Sports Affairs.

11. Chairman of the Border Ports Authority.

12. The Director General of the Protocol Department in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.

13. President of the Iraqi Football Association.

14. Director of Basra International Airport.

15. The Irsqi Journalists Syndicate.

16. A representative of the Ministry of Finance.

17. A representative of the Iraqi Media Network.

18. The General Director of the General Directorate of Sports Physical Education (Secretary of the Committee).

The directive included that the committee took over the preparation of the requirements for holding the tournament in Basra Governorate, meeting the requirements for its success, facilitating all procedures, and following up with high importance, provided that the Ministry of Youth and Sports would name the committee’s rapporteur, manage its work, and follow up on the implementation of its recommendations, in coordination with the relevant authorities.

The 25th edition of the Arabian Gulf Cup (Gulf 25) is scheduled to be held at the Sports City stadiums in Basra for the period from 6 to 19 January of next year 2023.

The Gulf Cup is organized every two years, and the first edition was held in Bahrain in 1970, while Qatar hosted the last edition in 2019, in which Bahrain won the first title in its history.
