The Prime Minister, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, affirmed: “Defending women is something that is supported by the laws, and noble goals.”
Al-Sudani said in a speech at the Islamic Day Conference for the Elimination of Violence against Women: “Supporting women and removing injustice from them is among the most important priorities of our government programme, and our government is proud that women are shouldering responsibility, including three female Ministers.”
He added, “We launched a 16-day campaign to combat violence against women, a month after the formation of our government.”
He continued: “In our Islamic history, the Karbala incident and its related repercussions represent one of the most important incidents that have left their traces until today for Muslims and all humanity.”
