Baghdad, The Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, confirmed that the beauty of Iraq is in its diversity, and it has proven to the world that its people are deeply rooted in the Mesopotamian civilization.
The ministry stated in a statement: ‘The minister’s assertions came during his meeting today with the former head of the Armenian Orthodox community in Iraq, His Eminence Bishop Avak Asadourian, and Father Basman Sofieh, secretary of the Archbishop of Deir Matti in the city of Mosul.’
The two guests congratulated the Minister on the days of Eid Al-Fitr, and praised the great efforts made by the Ministry of Interior in enhancing security and stability in various regions of the country and providing services to citizens.
For his part, the minister appreciated this visit, stressing that the Ministry of Interior is keen to protect all sects in Iraq.
During this meeting, a number of topics of common interest that serve the public interest were also discussed.
