(Al-Sayeh) discusses with (Batili) the latest developments in the process of electing municipal councils and the support and expertise that can be provided in this field.


Tripoli: Today, Wednesday, the Head of the High Electoral Commission, ‘Imad Al-Sayeh,’ discussed with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Support in Libya, ‘Abdullah Batili,’ the latest developments in the process of electing municipal councils and the support and expertise that can be provided to the Commission in this field .

The Commission’s media office stated that the meeting comes within the framework of international technical support provided to the Commission through United Nations institutions and bodies working in the field of supporting elections.

The meeting, which was attended by Council Member Abdul Hakim Al-Shaab, reviewed a number of topics related to electoral affairs, and what enhances the Commission’s readiness to fulfill this mission.

Batili stressed the continued support of the United Nations Mission and the international community in general for the Libyan elections, and praised the level of preparations shown by the Commission, which qualifi
es it to implement elections that live up to internationally recognized standards and principles.

Al-Sayeh, for his part, expressed his appreciation for all the efforts of the United Nations mission in the field of international expertise and election technology, which as a whole aims to implement a quality and credible electoral process
