Al raya: Al Raya newspaper highlighted the State of Qatar’s growing role on the international stage, through strategic partnerships with United Nations agencies aimed at supporting development and advancing humanitarian work worldwide.
According to Qatar News Agency, the newspaper shed light on Qatar’s ongoing efforts in the fields of education, health, and human rights, stressing that these initiatives reflect the country’s commitment to a comprehensive development vision based on international cooperation and humanitarian principles.
In its editorial today, the newspaper wrote that Qatar believes international cooperation and innovation are key to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It added that the partnership between the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and the United Nations is a model of international cooperation in development and humanitarian aid, aiming to achieve the SDGs through joint projects and programs in areas such as education, health, women’s empowerment, and humanitarian crisis response.
The newspaper noted in this context that QFFD supports innovative initiatives and programs that contribute to sustainable development, such as the UNDP’s Accelerator Labs. It added that QFFD’s active partnership with UNDP includes support for UNDP’s core resources, participation in high-level strategic dialogue, and enhanced cooperation in areas such as innovation, peacebuilding, development, and just climate transition.
The newspaper also pointed out that QFFD’s cooperation with UNICEF includes support for UNICEF programs in education, health, water and sanitation, child protection, and emergency response for children’s needs. It further highlighted that QFFD’s collaboration with the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) aims to address humanitarian needs worldwide by providing funding for core resources and the Emergency Response Fund, while QFFD’s partnership with the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) promotes sustainable development and human rights for all.
The newspaper noted that during QFFD’s recent participation in the High-Level Political Forum, it emphasized the urgent need to expand access to innovative and inclusive financing mechanisms, while stressing the importance of investing in local capacity building as a cornerstone for achieving the SDGs and enhancing long-term resilience.
