According to Deutsche Welle, the 28-year-old journalist was on assignment in Gaza when the attack occurred. The broadcaster has expressed its condolences and called for accountability for the incident.
In a statement released on Sunday, Israel’s military claimed that al-Sharif was the leader of a cell for the militant group Hamas. This assertion has drawn significant attention amid ongoing tensions in the region.
