Doha: An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale struck Thursday the US state of Alaska: An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale struck Thursday the US state of Alaska.

According to Qatar News Agency, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said that the earthquake’s epicenter was located 91 km from Sand Point city of Alaska, at a depth of 29.4 km.

There are no reports of damage or casualties from the earthquake so far.

Alaska is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, a region where tectonic plates collide, leading to intense seismic and volcanic activity. (QNA)
