Doha: A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck on Tuesday Los Rios region, western Chile: The US Geological Survey (USGS) said in a statement that the earthquake occurred 134 km from Corral town, at a depth of 9.7 km.
According to Qatar News Agency, Chile is prone to frequent earthquakes and volcanic eruptions due to its location along the Pacific Ring of Fire. In 2010, an 8.8-magnitude earthquake followed by a tsunami devastated central and southern Chile, killing 500 people.
