Doha: A statement by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) in Indonesia said that the epicenter of the quake occurred 142 km from Ternate city, at a depth of 10 km.
According to Qatar News Agency, there have been no reports of casualties or material damage.
Indonesia is regularly exposed to earthquakes due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where many tectonic plates meet and cause frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
