Doha: An earthquake measuring 5.0 magnitude on the Richter scale struck on Monday Maluku Province in Indonesia. The epicenter of the earthquake occurred 146 km from Tanimbar Islands, at a depth of 138 km, the Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) said.
According to Qatar News Agency, there have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake so far. Indonesia is regularly exposed to earthquakes, as it is located on the Pacific belt known as the Ring of Fire, where many tectonic plates meet and cause frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
