London, An earthquake measuring 4.9 Magnitude on the Richter scale struck the South Sandwich Islands, a British Overseas Territory in the South Atlantic Ocean.
The epicenter of the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported.
There have been no reports of material damage or human losses resulting from the earthquake so far.
The South Sandwich Islands are an archipelago that is part of the South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands region, which is an overseas territory of the UK.
