4.9-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Indonesia

Sumbawa: An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale struck on Sunday Sumbawa island in Indonesia.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) reported that the epicenter of the quake was south of the island, at a depth of 5 km.

There have been no reports of casualties or material damage from the earthquake.

Indonesia frequently experiences earthquakes due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where several tectonic plates converge, leading to regular volcanic and seismic activity.
