4.5-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes El Salvador

Doha: An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale struck Tuesday El Salvador, located in the South Pacific Ocean.

According to Qatar News Agency, the US Geological Survey reported that the earthquake’s epicenter was located 117 km south of La Libertad province, at a depth of 10 km. So far, there have been no reports of damage or casualties from the earthquake.

In 2001, a devastating earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale struck El Salvador, killing hundreds and injuring and displacing thousands.
