Doha: Australia secured a place in the Round of 32 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a goalless draw against Paraguay in their final Group D match at San Francisco Bay Area Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
According to Qatar News Agency, the draw lifted Australia to four points, enough to finish second in the group on goal difference ahead of Paraguay, who finished third and kept their hopes alive of qualifying as one of the best third-placed teams.
Despite suffering a 3-2 defeat to Turkiye in the other Group D fixture, the United States finished top of the group with six points. Turkiye concluded its campaign with three points and was eliminated from the competition.
