Doha: The 18th Qatar Robotics and AI Competition 2026 concluded at Lusail Hall in Doha on Tuesday.
According to Qatar News Agency, the three-day tournament was organized by the Ministry of Sports and Youth (MSY), represented by the Qatar Scientific Club (QSC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE), and was supported by the Social and Sport Contribution Fund (DAAM). The event brought together over 2,500 students from 250 schools who participated in various robotics competitions, showcasing their skills and determination to secure top positions.
Ismail Yasin Hassan, President of the Arab Association for Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, highlighted the importance of utilizing science and cutting-edge technologies in such contests, which are significant for students' scientific and practical development. He praised the high standard of work and organization demonstrated throughout the competition.
Fatima Al Mohannadi, Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs at QSC of MSY, emphasized the positive impact of collaboration between the ministry and various other entities, including MoEHE, the Arab Robotics and AI Association, Google, and Alarabi Sports Club. She expressed gratitude to all involved in the event, noting its contribution to building self-confident students with strong inclinations toward robotics technology.
Al Mohannadi further stressed the role of scientific and educational leaders in cultivating a generation capable of achieving the ambitions set forth by the Qatar National Vision 2030, which prioritizes human development.
The event concluded with a ceremony honoring the winners, including Qatar Technical School for Boys and Qatar School of Science and Technology for Boys, who were awarded the titles of Champion of Qatar in the Beginner and Advanced categories, respectively. Other winners included Asma bint Yazid Secondary School for Girls in the Underwater Robot category and various other schools excelling in specific competitions.
The championship also recognized winners in drone, line-following, sumo robot wrestling, innovation, ball collector, FLL, VEX IQ, VEX V5, and the CTF Cybersecurity Competition categories, highlighting the diverse talents and skills of the participating students.
