Baghdad The Iraqi Federation signed a contract with Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz to lead the national team in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in Qatar.
A source close to the normalization body told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that the agreement was final and a copy of the contract concluded between the two parties was sent to the Portuguese coach, and it is hoped that today a copy of the contract will arrive for the official announcement of the deal.
The source pointed out that a phone call took place today between the Iraqi party and coach Carlos Queiroz at three in the morning, during which it was agreed that he would take over the task and all the details of the contract.
He indicated that the Federation is awaiting the arrival of the Portuguese coach in the coming days to officially begin the task and lead the Iraqi team, especially since the local league has ended and the players are in a negative rest after the end of a tiring season.
It is noteworthy that negotiations with the Portuguese coach continued for many days, culminating in the conclusion of the contract.
