DOHA, Qatar, Altogether 20,879 people, from all age groups, have been vaccinated with seasonal flu, until Sunday, a week after the joint vaccination campaign, launched in cooperation with the Hamad Medical Corporation and the Primary Health Care Corporation, according to the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH).
The ministry said, the campaign, being held under the slogan ‘Stop the Flu,’ will continue until Apr, 2019.
The ministry called on all citizens and residents, aged six months and above, and people who are most vulnerable to complications of influenza, to obtain a vaccine for seasonal flu.
It recommended that vaccination should include people with chronic diseases, such as diabetes, asthma, heart and lung disease, kidney disease, spleen and cancer patients, the elderly (over the age of 65), children between the ages of six months and five years, pregnant women and health workers.
The ministry also stressed the importance of the initiative, to receive seasonal influenza vaccine, to help prevent the complications resulting from influenza, especially in populations with high risk factors.
It added that, vaccination is available free of charge, to all citizens and residents, in all primary health care centres, as well as in 48 hospitals, health centres and private clinics.
