Kuwait Announces Hosting “Gulf 26”

Baghdad, Kuwait announced today, Monday, that it will host the next Arabian Gulf Football Championship, “Gulf 26”, without specifying a date for it.

The head of the Kuwaiti Football Association, Abdullah Al-Shaheen, said, in statements reported by local newspapers: “Kuwait will host the next tournament, and its date will be determined at a later time,” without giving further details.

It is mentioned that 23rd edition of tournament had been held in Qatar due to the international ban imposed on Kuwait, which is considered the owner of the right to organize it based on the principle of rotation between countries, but the lifting of the ban weeks ago led to Kuwait regaining its right in the “Gulf 23”.

Then “Gulf 24” returned to Qatar in 2019 before the championship stopped after the Coronavirus pandemic swept the world, then it was assigned to Iraq after FIFA lifted its ban early last year.
