Najaf, The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, called on the commission to extend the period specified for updating the voters’ records after it was decided to postpone the elections until the end of this year.
The official in charge of al-Sadr’s media office read the directions of the Sadrist movement’s leader during the weekly press conference that al-Jabri held with the official spokesman for al-Sadr Salah al-Ubaidi.
Al-Sadr’s directives included a call to the Electoral Commission to extend the updating of voter registers, especially in areas far from city centers.
Al-Sadr also directed the committee formed by him in coordination with the competent authorities to return the property of minorities, especially Christians, without yielding to pressure from the parties.
Al-Sadr called on neighboring countries not to interfere in the internal affairs of Iraq, and also called on the Iraqi government not to interfere in its internal affairs.
On Qatar’s attempt to open a dialogue between the two neighbors, Saudi Arabia and Iran, Al-Sadr expressed his willingness to cooperate in this regard, given its positive impact on Iraq and its people.
