Pakistan Commemorates 71th Independence Day

Islamabad, Pakistan marked here today the 74th anniversary of Independence Day, as the republic has been incepted in 1971.

Celebrations here, the Federal Capital, and in the 4 provincial capitals, Peshawar, Karachi, Lahore and Quetta, respectively, have begun since early morning with firing of 21 artillery rounds.

Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussein and the transitional Prime Minister Nasser Malik attended the ceremony of raising the national flag, in addition to senior, civil and military, officials as well as diplomats accredited to Pakistan.
