Qatar’s riders eye Asian Games glory

Jakarta, The stars of Qatar’s Show Jumping team will participate in the final of Individual event at the 2018 Asian Games on Thursday.

Whopping 61 riders have qualified for the individual final which should be a tough and absorbing contest.

Earlier on Tuesday, Qatar showjumping team stood high against a tough competition from riders of 15 countries to savour a bronze finish at the Jakarta International Equestrian Park.

The Qatar squad comprising Sheikh Ali bin Khalid al Thani ( riding Sirroco), Hamad al Attiayah (on Clinton), Salmeen al Suwaidi (Cantaro 32) and Basem Mohammed (Argelith Squid) finished with an error rate of 16.50.

Saudi Arabia, comprising Ramzy Hamad al Duhami (Ted), Khaled Abdulrahman Almobty (Desert Storm II), Khaled Abdulaziz Aleid (Kayenne of De Rocky Mounten) and Abdullah Waleed Sharbatly (Carrera), claimed the gold.

Saudi Arabia had an error rate of 10.90 in the final round of the jump but totaled error 5.90 to secure the top finish.

Japan, represented by Taizo Sugitani (De Muze Heroine), Shota Ogumori (Iron Man Sig), Toshiki Masui (Carthagena 6) and Daisuke Fukushima (Cornet 36) scored a 11.74 error rate to secure the silver.

On the other hand, Qatar’s squash team concluded their participation in the 2018 Asian Games with a 1-2 defeat at the hands of Indonesia on Thursday.

The state of Qatar was represented by Abdullah Al Tamimi, Hamad Al Amri, Abdulrahman Al Malki and Sayyed Amjad.
