Representatives of the donour and humanitarian authorities in the UAE met today at the premises of the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MOFAIC) as part of their regular meeting to discuss the Official Development Assistance /Gross National Income Ratio (ODA/GNI).
The meeting, chaired by the Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister for International Development at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, was attended by the representatives of the MOFAIC, Court of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, Emirates Red Crescent, the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, the Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahayan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, Mohammed bin Rashid Charity Establishment, and Al Maktoum Foundation and Dubai Cares.
The discussion addressed the missions assigned to different task forces in charge of promoting the development projects being carried out by the country.
Featuring high during the meeting were the efforts made by various Emirati donor authorities during 2017.
The UAE was named in 2017 the world’s largest donor of development assistance in proportion to its gross national income for the fourth time over the past five years, according to the Development Assistance Committee of the Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development.
UAE’s total official development assistance in 2017 amounted to $3.96 bn (AED14.55 bn), 1.03 percent of GNI.
