The Cabinet ordered that necessary measures be taken to issue a draft law amending some provisions of Decree Law No.25 of 2005 on Commercial Registry. The Cabinet passed the order after reviewing the recommendations of the Advisory Council on the draft law prepared by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) within the context of facilitating requirements for investors and the business community.

This came during the weekly meeting of the Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani on Wednesday.

In accordance with the amendment, the period of registration in the commercial registry shall be determined by a decision of the Cabinet on the basis of the nature or type of activity subject to registration. This period may be renewed for a period or other similar periods. At the request of the concerned party, the competent department shall renew the registration accordingly.
