Baghdad, The Director of Arab and African Affairs at the Iranian Trade Development Organization, Farzad Piltan, announced today, Saturday, that Iraq ranked first in the Arab world, with the largest importers from Iran during the past five months.
Farzad Piltan said in a statement that “the main countries importing Iranian non-oil commodities in the aforementioned period in order are Iraq, the UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Syria, Qatar, Jordan, Lebanon and Bahrain, while no exports were recorded to Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
He pointed out that Iraq imported goods worth 1.834 billion dollars, the UAE with 310 million dollars, Oman 110 million dollars, Kuwait, Syria, Qatar, 58, 56 and 45 million dollars, respectively.
It is noteworthy that, following the Coronavirus pandemic, the closure of border crossings between Iran and the neighboring countries and the halting of trade movement at the regional and global level, the exports to the aforementioned countries decreased by about $ 3.5 billion and it is expected that the decrease is relatively compensated with the reopening of the borders and the resumption of trade exchange until the end of the current fiscal year i.e. March 20 2021.
