HH SHEIKHA MOZA WITNESSES THE OPENING OF THE SEVENTH EDITION OF QF-ARC

HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation (QF), yesterday witnessed the opening of the seventh edition of QF Annual Research Conference (ARC), which was held under the theme “R&D: Focusing on Priorities, Delivering Impact”, at Qatar National Convention Centre.

The Conference was attended by HE Dr. Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, a number of excellencies from sheikhs and ministers, heads of accredited diplomatic missions, as well as a group of experts, academics, researchers, and technology specialists from around the world.

Following the opening session of the Conference, HH Sheikha Moza presented QF “Best Research Project Award” to Hamad Medical Corporation, for “Tackling Diabetic Foot Ulcer” research project, which was developed by Dr. Talal Khader Talal and Dr. David Armstrong. In addition, HH Sheikha Moza presented QF “Best Innovation Award” to Qatar Computing Research Institute, for its Advanced Transcription System research project, which was developed by Eng. Ahmed Ali and Hassan Sajed.

In her opening speech, HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, QF’s Vice-Chairperson and CEO, said that Qatar strongly believes that research, technology and development are among the key successful factors in building a competitive and diversified economy, and that’s why, QF is always keen on supporting R&D and research innovations that can be empowered and applied in Qatar.

HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani also added that research offers a significant contribution to promoting human capital development and supporting the growth of local institutions throughout the region, thus helping to provide security that can mitigate the current turmoil in the region.
