The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday issued Law No.14 of 2018 on the Unified Economic Register.
The Law defines the Unified Economic Register as a record in which economic enterprises and self-employed individuals are registered, and the economic establishment as an individual enterprise or company or entity engaged in any area of the economic sector.
Under the provisions of the law, a Unified Economic Register shall be established within the Ministry of Economy and Commerce in which the following are registered:
1 – Qatari economic establishments and their branches and branches of non-Qatari establishments operating in the country.
2 – Those licensed to practice self-employment.
A number called Unified Economic Number shall be issued for any person registered in the Unified Economic Register and shall be used in all transactions and papers relating to his activity.
