Qatar to take on UAE in Asian Cup Semifinals

Abu Dhabi, Qatar will take on the UAE on Tuesday in the semifinals of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.

On Friday, Qatar reached the semi-finals for the first time in their history following a 1-0 victory over South Korea.

Bassam Al Rawi and Abdelaziz Hatim, Qatar’s goal-scoring heroes from their two previous knockout stage wins, are both suspended, but Omer Madibo and 2018 AFC Player of the Year Abdelkarim Hassan will be back.

Qatar topped Group E, with three victories over North Korea, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia. The Qatari team defeated Iraq in the round of 16 and beat South Korea in the quarter-finals.

The UAE won Group A with a victory over India and two draws with Bahrain and Thailand. In the round of 16, the UAE defeated Kyrgyzstan. The Emirati team defeated Australia in the quarter-finals.
